LifeKeeper for Windows v5.1

Today we released LifeKeeper for Windows version 5.1, LifeKeeper for Windows Data Replication version 5.1 and an updated Microsoft Exchange Recovery Kit version 5.1 along with updates to LifeKeeper Extender.

The major features of the v5.1 release are:

  • Cascading Failover allowing the ability to support greater than two-node clusters with LK and LKDR
  • New DNS Recovery Kit bundled with LK Core
  • New “Disable Automatic Failover” feature for both node and resource failures
  • “Media Sense” for IP resources on Windows 2003
  • Performance improvements made during mirror resynchronization in a WAN configuration
  • Improvements in the IIS Recovery Kit made to the monitoring of protected IIS sites

Other major features:

  • Documented support for Visual Basic when creating gen app scripts, including Visual Basic templates provided with the gen app recovery kit
  • New DNS kit is now integrated in the Exchange kit which allows for selection of DNS resources as well as virtual IP resources
  • Certification for Exchange 2003 SP2

LifeKeeper for Linux v5.1.1

On November 2, we released LifeKeeper for Linux v5.1.1 which delivers support for fibre channel storage multipath configurations using EMC CLARiiON CX, Symmetrix DMX and IBM DS and ESS storage units to eliminate all potential single points of failure in the connections between servers and storage including controllers, switches and host bus adaptors. 

Through integration with EMC PowerPath and IBM SDD multipath software solutions, LifeKeeper v5.1.1 provides constant monitoring and seamless switching among data paths to ensure that users always have access to business critical data.

A number of our customers have been anxiously awaiting this release, and we are pleased to deliver it to them.

This release also adds support for the latest RedHat releases, RHEL 3 Update 6 and RHEL4 Update 2.  Several ARKs were also updated to address maintenance needs.
