Update to McAfee Patch 11 issue

This is an update to the earlier entry detailing an incompatability between McAfee Enterprise 8.0 Enterprise (patch 11) and LifeKeeper.  Our team has discovered that:

In patch 10, with Buffer Overflow Protection Enabled, LifeKeeper initializes properly.

In patch 11, with Buffer Overflow Protection Disabled, LifeKeeper initializes properly.

In patch 11, with Buffer Overflow Protection EnabledLifeKeeper DOES NOT initialize properly.

So the workaround for now is disabling "Buffer Overflow Protection" through the McAfee Console.  Additional information will be posted as we learn more.

Another Update:  McAfee's fix to the problem which we have been encountering will be available in their Patch 13 which is due to be released in October.

Problems with McAfee Enterprise

LifeKeeper and McAfee 8.0 Enterprise (which installs as patch level 10) are completely compatible, but updating McAfee to patch level 11 introduces problems with starting LifeKeeper.

We've found that adding patch 11 prevents the c:\lk\config\LK_INITDONE file from being created after a reboot. This flag file gets created when LK completes its initialization. If it doesn't get created, LK cannot complete many of its operations.

Further debug is underway and more info will be posted as it becomes available.  For now we recommend that you not update to patch level 11 of McAfee 8.0 Enterprise.
