Data loss is as likely to strike SMBs as large enterprises, however, large enterprises have traditionally received the lion’s share of business continuity support. At SteelEye, we’re working hard to change that. Back in June, we announced DataKeeper for Windows, a real-time data replication solution that is affordable for SMBs and large enterprises alike.
We continue to see tremendous potential in the SMB space, an arena that has traditionally been ignored by business continuity providers. In turn, SMBs have viewed business continuity in a negative light because of its high perceived cost and fears of degraded network performance. These incorrect views are slowly changing as SMBs realize that business continuity is not only affordable and convenient but a growing necessity to assure persistent access to applications and data.
Virtualization is a major driving force behind this change, as is the need to support mixed infrastructure environments. Windows, Linux -- it shouldn’t matter from a business continuity perspective. And the size of the business shouldn’t matter, either. Business continuity needs to be easy and affordable for all.
